At least 213 people were killed in Sunday’s Baghdad suicide bombing claimed by the Islamic State group, officials said, making it one of the deadliest ever militant attacks in Iraq.

The suicide car bombing, which ripped through a crowded shopping area and sparked infernos in nearby buildings, also wounded more than 200 people, security and medical officials told AFP on Monday.

The area in the capital’s Karrada district was crowded with people shopping ahead of the holiday marking the end of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi vowed “punishment” for those responsible, and his office declared three days of mourning for the victims of the attack.

Abadi also ordered changes aimed at addressing long-standing flaws in Baghdad security measures, including scrapping fake bomb detectors that were in widespread use at checkpoints years after the man who sold them to Iraq was jailed for fraud in Britain….

Shocker: the “Do Not Molest Me” bracelets that Swedish cops handed out to girlsdidn’t work. Oddly enough, the Muslim migrants kept on molesting the Infidels girls even while the police were present. The Qur’an says: “O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” (33:59) The implication there is that if women do not cover themselves adequately with their outer garments, they may be abused, and that such abuse would be justified. Even if the girl is wearing a “Do Not Molest Me” bracelet.

GIRLS as young as 12 have been sexually assaulted by migrants at a festival in Sweden.

A gang of seven to eight men have been preying on young girls to carry out 23 sex attacks this weekend.

Victims at the Putte Festival in Karlstad this weekend, said they were surrounded and then the gang started to grope them.

Police officer Per-Arne Eriksson said: “The girls said that a group of seven to eight young guys surround them. They groped their bottoms and breasts and forced their hands inside their cloths.”

Two underage migrants have been arrested – but have since been released.

Mr Eriksson added: “The two suspects belong to the group of unaccompanied refugee children. They were released because of their young age and sent back to their accommodation. They are under 18 years old.”

On Saturday morning police had received 16 complaints of sex crimes and by Sunday they had received another seven, making it a total of 23 reported incidents at the free music festival.

However officials said they expect the number to raise after the event finishes.

Police increased their presence at the festival on Saturday evening after they received the first reports, however it did not appear to have halted the assaults. …

The sex attacks come after it was revealed Swedish police had covered up a series of assaults at We Are Sthlm festival last year.

Girls as young as 11-year-old had been groped and molested by a gang of migrant youths at the Stockholm music gig.

At the time Swedish police apologised and promised to launch an investigation.

One outcome of the revelation was an initiative for girls to wear bands with the police’s logo saying “don’t grope”, but the initiative was blasted on social media….

Speaking to the bereaved Ariel family by phone on Friday, Netanyahu promised to strengthen the Jewish community.

The tender for the additional housing units was initiated a year and a half ago, but was frozen when no contractors applied for their construction. The bidding process has now been re-opened.

The approval of the new housing units comes as Israeli politicians demand tougher measures against terrorists in the wake of a spate of terror attacks over the past week.

Since Thursday, two Israelis have been killed and six others injured in four separate terror attacks. The Israeli army on Friday imposed a closure on and around Hevron in the “most substantial steps on the ground” since 2014.

Netanyahu also ordered Israel to counteract money transfers from the Palestinian Authority commonly given to terrorists’ families by deducting the amount from Israel’s monthly tax revenue transfers to the PA.

But Israeli politicians, including Education Minister Naftali Bennett called for more action and suggested the imprisonment or expulsion of terrorists’ families, saying that Israel should also resume full military activity in Judea-Samaria areas that are under the control of the Palestinian Authority.

A MOB of 5,000 attacked a group of Christians as they attempted to build a church, the latest in a string of violent attacks in Egypt.

Vigilantes torched and looted homes in Baidaa village after hearing rumours worship was taking place.

And the horror continued when six CHRISTIANS were arrested for the brutal attack.

Naim Aziz Moussa, who was one of the Christians taken into custody, had offered the top two floors of his home to Christian villagers to use for worship.

Visits by a Coptic priest to the house near Amria, a small town south of Alexandria, fuelled speculation.

A baying mob gathered and threw stones, destroyed a car and shouted “We don’t want a church, we will knock down the church building, Egypt is an Islamic country.”

Mr Moussa said: “More than 5,000 people, including young and old, men and women, mobbed my home. They were shouting: ‘One way or another, we’ll bring the church down to the ground’.

“‘No church will stand here in the village. It’s either us or you, infidels!’

“The building was ransacked, including our home. My brother’s nearby new flat was also destroyed.”

Many of the 80 Christians who live in the village of Baidaa, an area is heavily influenced by Muslim Salafists, were injured in the chaos, including women and children.

Local priest Father Karas narrowly escaped the violent crowd who smashed his car as police were called to the scene.

Mr Moussa said: “They were crying out: ‘Islamic! Islamic! We don’t want churches in Amreyya!’”

“As the police arrived at the scene, angry Muslims were shouting, while their women were showing signs of jubilation that the police were there. “They were shouting out in support of the police, while at the same time stressing their rejection of the church on Islamic grounds.

“The police chief could see me bleeding from my wounds. I complained to him about what happened to me. He said I deserved this, and more.

“The police did nothing to protect the Christians. Right in their presence, more Christian properties were attacked. Father Karas’s car was smashed yet again.”

Ten homes were looted and two were torched as the mob destroyed all the fittings and fixtures used in the house for worship….

This is nothing: in the UK, a Muslim was mistakenly served a bacon sandwich. In light of that, it’s no surprise that the Catholic Church is much more concerned about “Islamophobia” than about the plight of these Christian women. To talk about them might harm the “dialogue,” right, Bishop McManus?

The seizure of Infidel girls and their use as sex slaves is sanctioned in the Qur’an. According to Islamic law, Muslim men can take “captives of the right hand” (Qur’an 4:3, 4:24, 33:50). The Qur’an says: “O Prophet! Lo! We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have paid their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses of those whom Allah has given you as spoils of war” (33:50). 4:3 and 4:24 extend this privilege to Muslim men in general. The Qur’an says that a man may have sex with his wives and with these slave girls: “The believers must win through, those who humble themselves in their prayers; who avoid vain talk; who are active in deeds of charity; who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or whom their right hands possess, for they are free from blame.” (Qur’an 23:1-6)

Islamic State has been abducting Christians in Libya and forcing them into sexual slavery, according to a new report by Amnesty International.

In a report titled “Libya is full of cruelty”, the rights group collected the testimonies of 90 migrants, including 15 women, interviewed in reception centres in Italy and Sicily after escaping Libya in recent months.

Amnesty said that sexual abuse is so widespread that some women take contraceptives before their sea crossing.

It cited a 21-year-old Eritrean woman identified as Amal who said she was among a group of 11 Christian women from Eritrea who were abducted by IS militants in July 2015.

They were kept in underground detention for nine months, forced to convert to Islam and used as sex slaves….

BAGHDAD (AP) — At least 91 people were killed Sunday in two bombings in the Iraqi capital, including a large-scale attack claimed by the Islamic State group that killed 86 people — among them 15 children — in a central shopping district, officials said.

The bombings demonstrated the extremists’ ability to mount significant attacks despite major battlefield losses, including the city of Fallujah, which was declared “fully liberated” from IS just over a week ago.

The deadliest attack took place in the central Karada district of Baghdad, where a suicide bomber blew up his explosives-laded pickup truck outside a crowded shopping center, killing at least 86 people and wounding up to 170 others, according to a police officer. He said the dead included 15 children, 10 women and six policemen.

The suicide bomber struck shortly after midnight, when families and young people were out on the streets after breaking their daylight fast for the holy month of Ramadan. Most of the victims were inside a multi-story shopping and amusement mall, where dozens burned to death or suffocated, officials said.

“It was like an earthquake,” said Karim Sami, a 35-year-old street vendor. “I wrapped up my goods and was heading home when I saw a fire ball with a thunderous bombing. I was so scared to go back and started to make phone calls to my friends, but none answered,” the father of three added. He said that one of his friends had been killed, another was wounded and one was still missing.

Within hours, IS claimed responsibility for the bombing in a statement posted online, saying they had deliberately targeted Shiite Muslims. The Associated Press could not verify the authenticity of the statement, but it was posted on a militant website commonly used by the extremists.

At the scene, firefighters and civilians were seen carrying the dead away, their bodies wrapped in blankets and sheets. Smoke billowed from the shopping center, which was surrounded by the twisted and burned wreckage of cars and market stalls. A group of women were sitting on the pavement, crying for their loved ones.

In the second attack, an improvised explosive device went off in Baghdad’s northern Shaab area, killing 5 people and wounding 16, another police officer said. No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but it bore the hallmarks of IS militants who often target commercial districts and Shiite areas.

Medical officials confirmed the casualty figures. All officials spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to release information to the press.

The high death toll made it the second deadliest attack in the capital this year. On May 11, IS militants carried out three car bombings in Baghdad, killing 93 people.

Hours after the bombing, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and lawmakers visited the blast site. Video footage uploaded to social media showed an angry crowd, with people calling al-Abadi a “thief” and shouting at his convoy. Eyewitness said the crowd pelted the al-Abadi’s car with rocks, shoes and jerry cans.

Until the government launched its Fallujah operation, the prime minister had faced growing social unrest and anti-government protests sparked, in part, by popular anger at the lack of security in the capital. In one month, Baghdad’s highly-fortified Green Zone — which houses government buildings and diplomatic missions — was stormed twice by anti-government protesters.

In Karada civilians expressed their frustration at the government’s failure to secure the capital.

“We are in a state of war, and these places are targeted. The security can’t focus on the war (against IS) and forget Baghdad,” Sami, the street vendor, said.

IS still controls Iraq’s second largest city of Mosul as well as significant patches of territory in the country’s north and west.

At the height of the extremist group’s power in 2014, IS rendered nearly a third of the country out of government control. Now, the militants are estimated to control only 14 percent of Iraqi territory, according to the office of Iraq’s prime minister.
