Around 4,000 asylum seekers have escaped the camp in the Aegean island of Lesbos.
The blaze at the Moria camp has left a trail of destruction including damaged tents and housing units.
A police source said there was "no doubt" the fire that ripped through the facility had been started by a number of migrants who lived there.

The insider said the strong winds were fanning the flames and added: "Between 3,000 and 4,000 migrants have fled the camp of Moria".
Some 150 children were evacuated to a children's village on the island.
Crowding and long delays in the processing of asylum requests has repeatedly caused simmering tensions at Moria.
Migrants began fighting among each other after rumours began circulating there would be mass deportations to Turkey, according to Greek media.
Emergency services said the fire is now under control but volunteers are still working to distribute water and help to families.
Officials said: "There was tension in the evening. Our main concern is the safety of the people. The fire is quite big."
