It seems clear from his Facebook page that Nathaniel Scheiern, who killed and tried to behead his grandparents, was a convert to Islam, not just a rage-filled loser with a taste for Islamic State beheading videos.

Entries on his Facebook page include semi-literate but unmistakable declarations of Islamic faith (the brackets are not interpolations by me or anyone else; they’re in the originals):

“Ponder no [ more ] and bombs to cease [ unwise strikes of Believers ] on ( Allah’s children, women, and the Elderly and the young ) who fight but by Example in except concepts to for (God and God alone) guidence and spiritual growth. One love n respect”

“None in mans wisdom can allow a [leader] to fall into the ways of those [ Secure ] in faith and full of patients lacking [ Allah ] and thus far from [ patience ] of (God) so the answer is up to free-will. And FREE I WILL (God willing) [His] Peoples Mind.”

“Rivers of punishment flow to [ advise ] for only God demands Praise.”

“Want Allah in All. !”

So why did the Los Angeles Times/Glendale News-Press in its new story on this case, and Westword below, leave out this information and give the impression that Scheiern was just a creep who enjoyed the occasional Islamic State video and unaccountably ended up killing and trying to behead his grandparents?

We shouldn’t have to read the tea leaves in mainstream media accounts to find out what is going on. But we do.

The video onetime Coloradan Nathaniel Scheiern posted on his Facebook page circa May 4 comes with an all-caps warning/message: “GRAPHIC FOOTAGE. ADULTS ONLY. LESSONS WITH LIFE’S TESTS MAKES EASY A`s!

The clip appears to be an ISIS terror video — and we’re not sharing it here because invective is followed by scenes of people being beheaded.

It’s too soon to know if material like this has any relation to the Glendale, California murders of Scheiern’s grandparents, William and Verna, for which Nathaniel was formally charged this week. But an autopsy reported cited by the Glendale News-Press reveals that William and Verna, ages 77 and 82 respectively, died of “blood loss from traumatic injuries.”

Nathaniel had reportedly been living with his grandparents for about a year because he was “troubled.”

Some of his difficulties were likely due to regular run-ins with law-enforcement departments in Colorado.

In 2007, he was again sharing the company of Weld County deputies owing to a parole violation — and in 2008, the agency put him on the hook for alleged criminal mischief and harassment, among other things.

January 2013 marked a jurisdiction switch. That time, he was busted in Jefferson County on a third-degree assault beef — and it appears he did some time related to it.

During December of 2013, he supplemented a photo of himself with this post: “Well I jus got outta the pokey n I missed a lot of people this past year. I apologize to my family who hurt the most but time for a better year. I missed you much friends n family. One Love kiddos.”

He appears to have still been in Colorado the following May, when he affixed a similar caption to the image at the top of his post: “Lifted…. 303 one love.”

William and Verna gave him a place to say at some point after that — the kind of largesse for which they were well known in their area.

“She was a very generous lady,” one neighbor said of Verna, noting that she’d paid for Nathaniel to get some dental work done. “She didn’t deserve this.”

We don’t yet know what else Nathaniel was doing in California. But it’s clear that something terrible happened there late last month.

The bodies of William and Verna were found on Sunday, June 28, after police were called to their home to conduct a welfare check. The door was open, and police quickly came to the conclusion that the couple might have been dead for several days.

Shortly thereafter, Nathaniel was found in a hospital; he’d been in what’s described as a serious car crash on Thursday, June 25, near the California community of Santa Clarita. Authorities believe he killed his grandparents before his accident.

He was subsequently taken into custody. Meanwhile, the ISIS-like videos on his Facebook page prompted local police to coordinate with the FBI’s counter-terrorism task force.

The videos, and the Facebook page, remain online at this writing. The following clip, also shared on May 4, does not contain any graphic footage.

Is this how you would expect those “fleeing persecution” to behave? Of course not; it’s how an angry supremacist mob behaves — they fear nothing.

The chaos at Calais is the direct result of a failure by France to control its own borders. Normal traffic to and from the UK is now in jeopardy. Trade, jobs and export is all put at risk — as are the lives of motorists and the good burghers of Calais.

Calais is migrant hell, and the authorities are powerless. Unlicensed shops and eateries that lack “‘the most basic sanitary rules’ in Calais” will remain open for business, a French judge has ruled.

A British motorist is warning tourists to avoid Calais after migrants wielding chainsaws smashed up his Mercedes and hurled petrol bombs in the road.

Rhys Williams, 53, was approaching the French port in the early hours when migrants from the sprawling jungle camp smashed his windows, causing up to £3,000 of damage.

They ran onto the road brandishing chainsaws and throwing Molotov cocktails at the police and passing traffic in scenes that he said ‘resembled a war zone’.

The attack is the latest in a string of incidents where migrants have attacked cars in a bid to block roads so they can access lorries bound for the UK.

Mr Williams, an operations manager for the Road Haulage Association, was left covered in glass after his front and back door windows were shattered.

Mr Williams said: ‘I was on the pitch black approach road to the port at about 1am in the morning when there was an almighty bang to the side of my car.

‘Two or three migrants had thrown a massive boulder that smashed my windows and damaged the rear door, driver’s door and the pillar in-between.

‘Two police vans were trying to contain 50 to 60 migrants that had come onto the carriageway with chainsaws and Molotov cocktails, throwing them at the trucks, the traffic and the police.

‘They were chopping down trees and setting fire to them to block the road, there was no way the police could cope.

‘In the middle of all this was a small family car, the occupants were clearly distressed.

‘It was something that I can only imagine would resemble a war zone.’

Mr Williams, from Bicester, Oxfordshire, says the incident on August 4 should be a warning to holidaymakers heading through the port.

He said: ‘They used to target the trucks but now it has taken another slant, no vehicle is safe, they are doing anything they can to stop the traffic so they can climb into stationary trucks.

‘I don’t want to scare people but with the next two weeks being peak holiday season there will be a lot of people making their way to Calais, it’s really not a place families should be travelling through.

‘I was covered in glass in my car, I dread to think what could have happened if there was a child in the back.

‘My car is still in the body shop, the cost of repair will be £2,000 to £3,000 plus the cost of a hire car.

‘Unless the authorities do something soon someone will be killed, that’s not scaremongering, it could be a lorry driver or a holidaymaker.’

Elsewhere a desperate trucker told how he saw at least 200 migrants being removed from lorries by police in the space of just three hours as the chaotic conditions in the lawless port town continue to deteriorate.

The number of migrants living at the infamous Jungle camp in Calais has rocketed in recent weeks as more and more people look to take advantage of the warmer summer months to sneak into Britain.

The 39-year-old from Knebworth, in Hertfordshire, told how he managed to escape the trap by driving his 3.5 tonne Sprinter van over the obstacle only to see motorists stuck behind being mugged by the mob.

The terrifying incident on a dual carriageway in the French port was captured on his dash-cam on Monday evening as he was returning from Brussels.

The father-of-one said: “They were there mugging people.

“They were trying to get onto the lorries so they can get into the UK.

“In order to do that they stop the cars which creates a traffic jams which gives them the chance to get onto the stationary lorries.

“It was really scary. I was quite tired at the time and it definitely woke me up.”

The married man then continued to the port where he discovered a short time later that he had been fortunate to escape the attack unscathed.

He said: “In that situation, you have just got to forget about the damage to the vehicle, they’re insured, and think about yourself.

“I just looked away and ploughed straight through.

“I almost ended up hitting one of them, but he got out of the way just in time when he realised I wasn’t stopping.

“I was just extremely lucky that I was the first one there and I was a in a big vehicle.”

He added: “If you went over it in a car you could do yourself some serious damage, even go off the road or flip over.

“The cars behind me all stopped. They got their windows smashed in and some people got mugged.”

In a separate incident lorry driver Tony Henderson, who works for Belfast-based firm Blair Transport, revealed how he saw more than 200 migrants being pulled from trucks and arrested by police in just three hours.

The trucker revealed how his own truck’s lock and seal were carefully removed and replaced during a recent trip so that 10 migrants could be hidden inside.

The incident occurred at a ‘secure’ lorry park 70 miles from Calais, and he only realised what had happened when police at the port spotted that the locks had been tampered with.

He said: “This was organised people smuggling – they knew what they were doing. The lock had been carefully cut behind the seal so it wasn’t visible and the lock and seal were then replaced.

“At Calais I saw at least 200 migrants taken from trucks in three hours – it’s the worst I’ve ever seen it was just mayhem. They were being marched out in blocks. The French police were doing a great job, and were working flat out. But where does it all stop?”

Too often, the debate around Islamic violence centers around doctrine -- around what the Koran and other scriptures (such as the Hadith -- the words and deeds of Muhammad) really say and mean. Forgotten in this debate is that Islamic scriptures are unnecessary in determining whether Islam teaches violence and war against non-Muslims.

History suffices. Consider the facts, which have been attested to by both Muslim and non-Muslim primary historic sources.

A mere decade after the birth of Islam in the 7th century, the jihad burst out of Arabia. In just a few decades, Muslims had permanently conquered what was then two-thirds of the Christian world. The heart of the Muslim world today -- nations like Egypt, Syria, all of North Africa, Turkey and more later -- had been, in the 7th century, the heart of Christendom.

Thereafter, it was a continuous war on Christian Europe.

That “Religion of Peace”? Ask Obama: If Islam is peaceful, shouldn’t Islam have been peaceful during and immediately following its founding?

Less than three decades after the traditional date of Islam’s founding (622), three of the five original Christian centers (“sees”) founded by the apostles -- Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem -- were forever swallowed up by Islam. The fourth, Constantinople, valiantly resisted the Islamic onslaught for centuries, but was finally conquered in the name of Islam in 1453.

Though sacked and burned by Muslims as early as 846, only distant Rome -- the Vatican, fifth of the ancient Christian sees -- remained unconquered.

Among other nations and territories that were attacked and/or came under Muslim domination throughout the centuries are (to give them their modern names, and in no particular order):

Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Sicily, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Greece, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Lithuania, Romania, Albania, Serbia, Armenia, Georgia, Crete, Cyprus, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Belarus, Malta, Sardinia, Moldova, Slovakia, and Montenegro.

The few European regions that escaped direct Islamic occupation due to their northwest remoteness include Great Britain, Scandinavia, and Germany. This of course, does not mean that these regions were not attacked by Islam.

Indeed, in the furthest northwest land of Europe – Iceland -- Christians used to pray that God save them from the “terror of the Turk.” This was not mere paranoia. As late as 1627, Muslim corsairs raided Iceland.

They seized four hundred captives and sold them in the slave markets of Algiers.

Nor did America escape Islamic attack. A few years after the formation of the United States, in 1800, American trading ships in the Mediterranean were plundered and their sailors enslaved by Muslim corsairs.

The ambassador of Tripoli explained to Thomas Jefferson that it was a Muslim’s right and duty to make war upon non-Muslims wherever they could be found, and to enslave as many as they could take as prisoners.

There was no mystery, no politically correct debate about Islam in those days.

As early as the 8th century, the Byzantine chronicler Theophanes wrote in hisChrongraphia:

He [Muhammad] taught those who gave ear to him that the one slaying the enemy -- or being slain by the enemy -- entered into paradise [e.g., Koran 9:111]. And he said paradise was carnal and sensual -- orgies of eating, drinking, and women.

Also, there was a river of wine … and the woman were of another sort, and the duration of sex greatly prolonged and its pleasure long-enduring [e.g., 56: 7-40, 78:31, 55:70-77]. And all sorts of other nonsense.

Six hundred years later, in the 14th century, Byzantine emperor Paleologus II told a Muslim scholar:

Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman -- such as the command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.

Such was the honesty of interfaith dialogue in former times.

It deserves repeating, by the standards of historiography, that the aforementioned historical outline is unassailable, and attested to by both Muslim and European historians, from the traditional beginning of Islam till the modern era.

In short, regardless of what the Koran and other Islamic scriptures really “mean,” for roughly one millennium -- punctuated by a Crusader-rebuttal that the modern world is obsessed with demonizing -- Muslims waged unrelenting war on the West.

They did this, and continue doing this, in the name of Islam.

Today? Whether as taught in high school or graduate school, whether as portrayed by Hollywood or the news media, the predominant historic narrative is that Muslims are the historic “victims” of “intolerant” Western Christians.

Now we are paying the price of being an ahistorical society. A few years after the Islamic strikes of 9/11 -- merely the latest strikes in the centuries-long, continents-wide jihad on the West -- Americans elected (twice) a man with a Muslim name and heritage for president; a man who openly empowers the same Islamic ideology that Western warriors fought for centuries.

Surely the United States’ European forebears -- who at one time or another either fought off or were conquered by Islam -- must be turning in their graves.

But all this is history, you say? Why rehash it? Why not let it be and move on, begin a new chapter of mutual tolerance and respect, even if history must be “touched up” a bit?

This would be a somewhat plausible position -- if not for the fact that this conquering stage of Islamic history never ended.

All around the globe, Muslims are still exhibiting the same imperial impulse and intolerant supremacism that their conquering forbears did. The only difference now is that the Muslim world is currently incapable of defeating the West through a conventional war.

Yet this may not even be necessary. Thanks to the West’s ignorance of history, Muslims are allowed to flood Europe, so that hardly a day now passes without headlines of unspeakable Muslim on non-Muslim violence. Most recently -- or at least as of this writing -- Muslims invaded a church in France, forced the priest on his knees, and slit his throat.

All this leads to another, equally important point: If the true history of the West and Islam is being turned upside down, what other historical “truths” being peddled today are equally false? The narrative concerning Islam’s alleged peacefulness is only being questioned because the world sees Muslims committing violence on a daily basis. But surely there are other nefarious and seditious forces that are intelligent enough not to expose themselves?

In the future (whatever one there may be), the histories written about our times will likely stress how our era, ironically called the “information age,” was not an age when people were well-informed. Ours will rather have been an age whendisinformation was so widespread and unquestioned that generation lived in bubbles of alternate realities, comfortable in their ignorance, until the bubbles were finally popped.
