It seems clear from his Facebook page that Nathaniel Scheiern, who killed and tried to behead his grandparents, was a convert to Islam, not just a rage-filled loser with a taste for Islamic State beheading videos.
Entries on his Facebook page include semi-literate but unmistakable declarations of Islamic faith (the brackets are not interpolations by me or anyone else; they’re in the originals):
“Ponder no [ more ] and bombs to cease [ unwise strikes of Believers ] on ( Allah’s children, women, and the Elderly and the young ) who fight but by Example in except concepts to for (God and God alone) guidence and spiritual growth. One love n respect”
“None in mans wisdom can allow a [leader] to fall into the ways of those [ Secure ] in faith and full of patients lacking [ Allah ] and thus far from [ patience ] of (God) so the answer is up to free-will. And FREE I WILL (God willing) [His] Peoples Mind.”
“Rivers of punishment flow to [ advise ] for only God demands Praise.”
“Want Allah in All. !”
“Praise be to Allah who [ will ] in searing pain smite my enimies with haste … its not a race if quickness .but of [ Waste ] no more time in [ Staying ] pious and [ true ] in patiently waving.”
So why did the Los Angeles Times/Glendale News-Press in its new story on this case, and Westword below, leave out this information and give the impression that Scheiern was just a creep who enjoyed the occasional Islamic State video and unaccountably ended up killing and trying to behead his grandparents?
We shouldn’t have to read the tea leaves in mainstream media accounts to find out what is going on. But we do.
An update on this story. “Nathaniel Scheiern Posted Beheading Video Before Grandparents’ Slaying,” by Michael Roberts, Westword, July 10, 2015:
The video onetime Coloradan Nathaniel Scheiern posted on his Facebook page circa May 4 comes with an all-caps warning/message: “GRAPHIC FOOTAGE. ADULTS ONLY. LESSONS WITH LIFE’S TESTS MAKES EASY A`s!
The clip appears to be an ISIS terror video — and we’re not sharing it here because invective is followed by scenes of people being beheaded.
It’s too soon to know if material like this has any relation to the Glendale, California murders of Scheiern’s grandparents, William and Verna, for which Nathaniel was formally charged this week. But an autopsy reported cited by the Glendale News-Press reveals that William and Verna, ages 77 and 82 respectively, died of “blood loss from traumatic injuries.”
Nathaniel had reportedly been living with his grandparents for about a year because he was “troubled.”
Some of his difficulties were likely due to regular run-ins with law-enforcement departments in Colorado.
In 2007, he was again sharing the company of Weld County deputies owing to a parole violation — and in 2008, the agency put him on the hook for alleged criminal mischief and harassment, among other things.
January 2013 marked a jurisdiction switch. That time, he was busted in Jefferson County on a third-degree assault beef — and it appears he did some time related to it.
During December of 2013, he supplemented a photo of himself with this post: “Well I jus got outta the pokey n I missed a lot of people this past year. I apologize to my family who hurt the most but time for a better year. I missed you much friends n family. One Love kiddos.”
He appears to have still been in Colorado the following May, when he affixed a similar caption to the image at the top of his post: “Lifted…. 303 one love.”
William and Verna gave him a place to say at some point after that — the kind of largesse for which they were well known in their area.
“She was a very generous lady,” one neighbor said of Verna, noting that she’d paid for Nathaniel to get some dental work done. “She didn’t deserve this.”
We don’t yet know what else Nathaniel was doing in California. But it’s clear that something terrible happened there late last month.
The bodies of William and Verna were found on Sunday, June 28, after police were called to their home to conduct a welfare check. The door was open, and police quickly came to the conclusion that the couple might have been dead for several days.
Shortly thereafter, Nathaniel was found in a hospital; he’d been in what’s described as a serious car crash on Thursday, June 25, near the California community of Santa Clarita. Authorities believe he killed his grandparents before his accident.
He was subsequently taken into custody. Meanwhile, the ISIS-like videos on his Facebook page prompted local police to coordinate with the FBI’s counter-terrorism task force.
The videos, and the Facebook page, remain online at this writing. The following clip, also shared on May 4, does not contain any graphic footage.

Hamas, the terror group which runs the Gaza Strip, successfully infiltrated an international aid organization working in Gaza and stole tens of millions of dollars, redirecting the funds to its military wing, the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced on Thursday.
Gazan civil engineer Muhammad Halabi was identified as the agent who infiltrated World Vision International, a massive Evangelical Christian charitable organization which is active in over 90 countries worldwide and has a presence in Gaza.
Halabi became head of the Gaza branch in 2010, from which position he was able to redirect 60 percent of the organization’s budget – $7.2 million a year – away from humanitarian assistance for Gaza’s impoverished and disabled and into a channel funding Hamas’s various terrorist and military activities, including the purchasing of weapons and the construction of terror tunnels.
The plot to place a Hamas agent in the World Vision organization was part of a “very focused mission, to penetrate an international aid organization and exploit its resources,” said a Shin Bet source, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Halabi was recruited in 2004 for that specific task. He used false documentation and carefully placed associates to carry out his schemes.
The Shin Bet’s investigation revealed that humanitarian funds embezzled from the organization went to building a military base in Gaza, paying the salaries of Al-Kassam Brigade fighters, and buying construction materials for military facilities and tunnels, among other uses.
In some cases, food purchased by the organization was literally taken from the mouths of the hungry. Packages of food intended for the poor were sent instead to Hamas battalions in Northern Gaza. Mental health aid funds were also stolen.
World Vision International was totally unaware of the operation, said the Shin Bet. The organization’s website states that its mission, which operates 14 programs throughout Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, provides education, disaster response, child protection, and clean water. It also partners with Palestinian Christian churches.
Hamas regularly siphons off money and resources from the millions of dollars in humanitarian aid that Gaza receives from international organizations and governments. The terror group has also pressured Gazans with travel permits into Israel, usually for medical reasons, to smuggle in weapons and funds or carry out terror attacks.

As the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) distributes its “Islamophobin” gum at the Republican National Convention, I expose the dishonesty and propagandistic manipulativeness of the entire “Islamophobin” campaign.
In this new video, I explain why a prominent Coptic Christian organization supports the designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.
Where is Franciscan Action Network spokesmanJason L. Milleron this? Too busy writing trumped-up stories about “Islamophobia” to examineactualreligious persecution? Of course, in this case the perpetrators are Muslims, so if he were to speak out too strenuously about this, he would end up in dutch with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and would no longer be invited to the best parties.
“Horrifying mob of 5,000 attacks Christians for BUILDING CHURCH shouting ‘Egypt is Islamic,’” by Katie Mansfield, Express, July 2, 2016 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
A MOB of 5,000 attacked a group of Christians as they attempted to build a church, the latest in a string of violent attacks in Egypt.
Vigilantes torched and looted homes in Baidaa village after hearing rumours worship was taking place.
And the horror continued when six CHRISTIANS were arrested for the brutal attack.
Naim Aziz Moussa, who was one of the Christians taken into custody, had offered the top two floors of his home to Christian villagers to use for worship.
Visits by a Coptic priest to the house near Amria, a small town south of Alexandria, fuelled speculation.
A baying mob gathered and threw stones, destroyed a car and shouted “We don’t want a church, we will knock down the church building, Egypt is an Islamic country.”
Mr Moussa said: “More than 5,000 people, including young and old, men and women, mobbed my home. They were shouting: ‘One way or another, we’ll bring the church down to the ground’.
“‘No church will stand here in the village. It’s either us or you, infidels!’
“The building was ransacked, including our home. My brother’s nearby new flat was also destroyed.”
Many of the 80 Christians who live in the village of Baidaa, an area is heavily influenced by Muslim Salafists, were injured in the chaos, including women and children.
Local priest Father Karas narrowly escaped the violent crowd who smashed his car as police were called to the scene.
Mr Moussa said: “They were crying out: ‘Islamic! Islamic! We don’t want churches in Amreyya!’”
“As the police arrived at the scene, angry Muslims were shouting, while their women were showing signs of jubilation that the police were there. “They were shouting out in support of the police, while at the same time stressing their rejection of the church on Islamic grounds.
“The police chief could see me bleeding from my wounds. I complained to him about what happened to me. He said I deserved this, and more.
“The police did nothing to protect the Christians. Right in their presence, more Christian properties were attacked. Father Karas’s car was smashed yet again.”
Ten homes were looted and two were torched as the mob destroyed all the fittings and fixtures used in the house for worship….
Establishment counterterror analyst Max Abrahms says that the Al-Nusra Front uses “more moderate methods” than the Islamic State, and is “trading” on its “more moderate branding.” Here they are slitting the throat of a Christian and saying: “We are from the Al-Nusra Front and have come to make lives miserable for the Crusaders.” Moderate branding!
“Syria: Militants slit a Christian’ throat, mock his wife saying ‘Your Jesus did not come to save him from us,'” by Madeeha Bakhsh, Christians in Pakistan, June 24, 2016 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
In a recent heinous incident, jihadists slit throat of a Christian in front of his wife, giving a vent to their odium for Christianity, they mocked the woman in a derogatory way saying “Your Jesus did not come to save him from us.” This odious incident took place in Syria’ ancient town Maalula; which was invaded by the militants few days ago.
A Christian woman resident of Maalula told the media saying, “They arrived in our town at dawn and shouted ‘We are from the Al-Nusra Front and have come to make lives miserable for the Crusaders,” the woman who was identified as Marie, further narrated that after their first advance against the town, Christians started fleeing.
The town was home to considerable large Christian population. According to estimate, about 5,000 of the residents of Maalula speak Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus himself. The militant outfit has tightened its grip over the Maalula in order to use it as a launching base for anti-regime attacks….

A Christian church in Egypt was recently torched to the ground. According to a statement by the Coptic Christian diocese in Minya, Upper Egypt: “The Virgin Mary Church in Ismailiyah, which is about four miles north of Minya, was exposed to an attack by some extremists who set fire to and completely destroyed it around 2 a.m., Thursday morning, May 12.” A video shows the structure burning as Christians scurry to throw pails of water on it.
The Virgin Mary Church in Ismailiyah, pictured as it burns on May 12, 2016.
The church consisted of a large tent that had been consecrated and contained all the material of a “normal” church — an altar, icons, and crosses — and was led by Fr. Jonathan Adel. The Christians of the region had been meeting there for all regular church services, functions, and celebrations; authorities had agreed to its existence and use as a church.
The Coptic statement, written by Bishop Macarious, closed with: “May God protect the Church and preserve Egypt and Egyptians from all adversity.”
Why were these Christians meeting in a large “church tent” in the first place? Because the church they had built in 2009 was sealed off by authorities after local Muslims protested and rioted.
The Virgin Mary Church is not the first congregation in Egypt to be denied a church building, forced to worship in a tent, often to be attacked again. According to a 2010 report, “Since March 16, 2010, after the demolition of the old church [as in Minya], the Bishop and the congregation have been celebrating mass in a linen tent erected on the courtyard where the new church is planned, under the summer heat exceeding 113 degrees Fahrenheit.”
After waiting 44 years, the Christians of Nag Shenouda were issued the necessary permits to build a church. Because of this, local Muslims rioted and burned down the church tent they had been using. Then, when a Christian allowed some of the congregation to use his home, a Muslim mob attacked it. Denied a place to worship, the determined Christians of Nag Shenouda celebrated Easter 2015 in the middle of the street.
Sometimes when the mob does not torch the church tents, the authorities do it themselves: Egyptian police destroyed the tent structure of St. Joseph Church, in another village in Minya, under the pretext that it was built without a license.
As usual, this chain of events — Christian minorities having their churches closed and being forced to meet in tents, only to be persecuted again by police or mobs — is not an “aberration” limited to the experiences of Egypt’s Christians but occurs across the world, wherever Christians live under Muslim rule:
Kenya (November, 2015): After rioting Muslims burned down two church buildings, the congregations were forced to erect church tents, some of which were flooded by strong rains, which carried away five people.
Indonesia (January 2015): Authorities in the Sharia-governed province of Aceh began to remove tents built by Christians for worship after their churches were torn down by authorities responding to Muslim violence against churches that left one dead and thousands Christians displaced. At least two church tents were torn down. Earlier, in 2012, the St. Johannes Baptista church tent was sealed off by authorities. The congregation had been using it since 2006 as a temporary location, as they had not received a church permit since they applied in 2000.
Sudan (June 2014): After authorities in North Khartoum demolished another church building that had stood since 1983, the pastor said “We will have to pray in a makeshift tent [along the road] next Sunday.”
Pakistan (September 2012): Soon after a madrassa (Islamic school) was opened near where churchless Christians held their tent services, Muslim students began harassing the Christians. They shot bullets at their homes, shouted, “convert to Islam or leave this neighborhood,” and sexually harassed Christian girls as they left after services.
Islam, the False Pagan Babylonian Religion, Exposed: “Allah” (Ba’al) is the Pre Arabic Pagan Moon God / Muhammad False Prophet
More on Islam, the Pagan Babylonian cult of death here.

“The Arabs, before the time of Mohammed, accepted and worshipped, after a fashion, a supreme god called Allah”– (Encyclopedia off Islam, I:302, Leiden: E.J. Brill, 1913, Houtsma)
“The name Allah, as the Quran itself is witness, was well known in pre-Islamic Arabia. Indeed, both it and its feminine form, Allat, are found not infrequently among the theophorous names in inscriptions from North Africa”– (Islam: Muhammad, and His Religion, New York: The Liberal Arts Press, 1958, p. 85)
The word “Allah” comes from the compound Arabic word, al-ilah. Al is the definite article “the” and ilah is an Arabic word for “god.” It is not a foreign word. It is not even the Syriac word for God. It is pure Arabic. – (There is an interesting discussion of the origins of Allah, in “Arabic Lexicographical Miscellanies” by J. Blau in the Journal of Semitic Studies, Vol. XVII, #2, 1972, pp. 173-190)
Neither is Allah a Hebrew or Greek word for God as found in the Bible. Allah is a purely Arabic term used in reference to an Arabian deity. Hastings’ Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics I:326, T & T Clark, states:
‘”Allah” is a proper name, applicable only to their [Arabs’] peculiar God.’
According to the Encyclopedia of Religion:
‘”Allah” is a pre-Islamic name . . . corresponding to the Babylonian Bel’ – (Encyclopedia of Religion, I:117 Washington DC, Corpus Pub., 1979)
For those who find it hard to believe that Allah was a pagan name for a peculiar pagan Arabian deity in pre-Islamic times, the following quotations may be helpful:
“Allah is found . . . in Arabic inscriptions prior to Islam” –(Encyclopedia Britannica, I:643)
“The Arabs, before the time of Mohammed, accepted and worshipped, after a fashion, a supreme god called Allah”– (Encyclopedia off Islam, I:302, Leiden: E.J. Brill, 1913, Houtsma)
“Allah was known to the pre-Islamic . . . Arabs; he was one of the Meccan deities” – (Encyclopedia off Islam, I:406, ed. Gibb)
“Ilah . . . appears in pre-Islamic poetry . . . By frequency of usage, al-ilah was contracted to Allah, frequently attested to in pre-Islamic poetry” – (Encyclopedia off Islam, III:1093, 1971)
“The name Allah goes back before Muhammad” –(Encyclopedia of World Mythology and Legend, I:41, Anthony Mercatante, New York, The Facts on File, 1983)
“The origin of this (Allah) goes back to pre-Muslim times. Allah is not a common name meaning “God” (or a “god”), and the Muslim must use another word or form if he wishes to indicate any other than his own peculiar deity”– (Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics, I:326, Hastings)
To the testimony of the above standard reference works, we add those of such scholars as Henry Preserved Smith of Harvard University who has stated:
“Allah was already known by name to the Arabs” – (The Bible and Islam: or, The Influence of the Old and New Testament on the Religion of Mohammed, New York, Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1897, p. 102)
Dr. Kenneth Cragg, former editor of the prestigious scholarly journal Muslim World and an outstanding modern Western Islamic scholar, whose works are generally published by Oxford University, comments:
“The name Allah is also evident in archeological and literary remains of pre-Islamic Arabia” – (The Call of the Minaret, New York: Oxford University Press, 1956, p. 31)
“In recent years I have become increasingly convinced that for an adequate understanding of the career of Muhammad and the origins of Islam great importance must be attached to the existence in Mecca of belief in Allah as a “high god.” In a sense this is a form of paganism, but it is so different from paganism as commonly understood that it deserves separate treatment” – (William Montgomery Watt, Muhammad’s Mecca, p. vii. Also see his article, “Belief in a High God in Pre-Islamic Mecca”, Journal of Semitic Studies, Vol. 16, 1971, pp. 35-40)
Caesar Farah in his book on Islam concludes his discussion of the pre-Islamic meaning of Allah by saying:
“There is no reason, therefore, to accept the idea that Allah passed to the Muslims from the Christians and Jews” – (Islam: Beliefs and Observations, New York, Barrons, 1987, p. 28)
According to Middle East scholar E.M. Wherry, whose translation of the Quran is still used today, in pre-Islamic times Allah-worship, as well as the worship of Ba-al, were both astral religions in that they involved the worship of the sun, the moon, and the stars – (A Comprehensive Commentary on the Quran, Osnabruck: Otto Zeller Verlag, 1973, p. 36)
Astral Religions
In Arabia, the sun god was viewed as a female goddess and the moon as the male god. As has been pointed out by many scholars such as Alfred Guilluame, the moon god was called by various names, one of which was Allah!– (Islam, p. 7)
The name Allah was used as the personal name of the moon god, in addition to other titles that could be given to him.
Allah, the moon god, was married to the sun goddess. Together they produced three goddesses who were called “the daughters of Allah.” These three goddesses were called Al-Lat, Al-Uzza, and Manat.
The daughters of Allah, along with Allah and the sun goddess were viewed as “high” gods. That is, they were viewed as being at the top of the pantheon of Arabian deities.
“Along with Allah, however, they worshipped a host of lesser gods and “daughters of Al-lah” – (Encyclopedia of World Mythology and Legend, I:61)”
The religion of Islam has as its focus of worship a deity by the name of “Allah.” The Muslims claim that Allah in pre-Islamic times was the biblical God of the Patriarchs, prophets, and apostles. The issue is thus one of continuity. Was “Allah” the biblical God or a pagan god in Arabia during pre- Islamic times? The Muslim’s claim of continuity is essential to their attempt to convert Jews and Christians for if “Allah” is part of the flow of divine revelation in Scripture, then it is the next step in biblical religion. Thus we should all become Muslims. But, on the other hand, if Allah was a pre- Islamic pagan deity, then its core claim is refuted. Religious claims often fall before the results of hard sciences such as archeology. We can endlessly speculate about the past or go and dig it up and see what the evidence reveals. This is the only way to find out the truth concerning the origins of Allah. As we shall see, the hard evidence demonstrates that the god Allah was a pagan deity. In fact, he was the Moon-god who was married to the sun goddess and the stars were his daughters.
Archaeologists have uncovered temples to the Moon-god throughout the Middle East. From the mountains of Turkey to the banks of the Nile, the most wide-spread religion of the ancient world was the worship of the Moon-god. In the first literate civilization, the Sumerians have left us thousands of clay tablets in which they described their religious beliefs. As demonstrated by Sjoberg and Hall, the ancient Sumerians worshipped a Moon-god who was called many different names. The most popular names were Nanna, Suen and Asimbabbar. His symbol was the crescent moon. Given the amount of artifacts concerning the worship of this Moon-god, it is clear that this was the dominant religion in Sumeria. The cult of the Moon-god was the most popular religion throughout ancient Mesopotamia. The Assyrians, Babylonians, and the Akkadians took the word Suen and transformed it into the word Sin as their favorite name for the Moon-god. As Prof. Potts pointed out, “Sin is a name essentially Sumerian in origin which had been borrowed by the Semites. ”
In ancient Syria and Canna, the Moon-god Sin was usually represented by the moon in its crescent phase. At times the full moon was placed inside the crescent moon to emphasize all the phases of the moon. The sun-goddess was the wife of Sin and the stars were their daughters. For example, Istar was a daughter of Sin. Sacrifices to the Moon-god are described in the Pas Shamra texts. In the Ugaritic texts, the Moon-god was sometimes called Kusuh. In Persia, as well as in Egypt, the Moon- god is depicted on wall murals and on the heads of statues. He was the Judge of men and gods. The Old Testament constantly rebuked the worship of the Moon-god (see: Deut. 4:19;17:3; II Kngs. 21:3,5; 23:5; Jer. 8:2; 19:13; Zeph. 1:5, etc.) When Israel fell into idolatry, it was usually the cult of the Moon-god. As a matter of fact, everywhere in the ancient world, the symbol of the crescent moon can be found on seal impressions, steles, pottery, amulets, clay tablets, cylinders, weights, earrings, necklaces, wall murals, etc. In Tell-el-Obeid, a copper calf was found with a crescent moon on its forehead. An idol with the body of a bull and the head of man has a crescent moon inlaid on its forehead with shells. In Ur, the Stela of Ur-Nammu has the crescent symbol placed at the top of the register of gods because the Moon-god was the head of the gods. Even bread was baked in the form of a crescent as an act of devotion to the Moon-god. The Ur of the Chaldees was so devoted to the Moon-god that it was sometimes called Nannar in tablets from that time period.
A temple of the Moon-god has been excavated in Ur by Sir Leonard Woolley. He dug up many examples of moon worship in Ur and these are displayed in the British Museum to this day. Harran was likewise noted for its devotion to the Moon-god. In the 1950’s a major temple to the Moon-god was excavated at Hazer in Palestine. Two idols of the moon god were found. Each was a stature of a man sitting upon a throne with a crescent moon carved on his chest . The accompanying inscriptions make it clear that these were idols of the Moon-god. Several smaller statues were also found which were identified by their inscriptions as the “daughters” of the Moon-god. What about Arabia? As pointed out by Prof. Coon, “Muslims are notoriously loath to preserve traditions of earlier paganism and like to garble what pre-Islamic history they permit to survive in anachronistic terms.”
During the nineteenth century, Amaud, Halevy and Glaser went to Southern Arabia and dug up thousands of Sabean, Minaean, and Qatabanian inscriptions which were subsequently translated. In the 1940’s, the archeologists G. Caton Thompson and Carleton S. Coon made some amazing discoveries in Arabia. During the 1950’s, Wendell Phillips, W.F. Albright, Richard Bower and others excavated sites at Qataban, Timna, and Marib (the ancient capital of Sheba). Thousands of inscriptions from walls and rocks in Northern Arabia have also been collected. Reliefs and votive bowls used in worship of the “daughters of Allah” have also been discovered. The three daughters, al-Lat, al-Uzza and Manat are sometimes depicted together with Allah the Moon-god represented by a crescent moon above them. The archeological evidence demonstrates that the dominant religion of Arabia was the cult of the Moon-god.
In Old Testament times, Nabonidus (555-539 BC), the last king of Babylon, built Tayma, Arabia as a center of Moon-god worship. Segall stated, “South Arabia’s stellar religion has always been dominated by the Moon-god in various variations.” Many scholars have also noticed that the Moon-god’s name “Sin” is a part of such Arabic words as “Sinai,” the “wilderness of Sin,” etc. When the popularity of the Moon-god waned elsewhere, the Arabs remained true to their conviction that the Moon-god was the greatest of all gods. While they worshipped 360 gods at the Kabah in Mecca, the Moon-god was the chief deity. Mecca was in fact built as a shrine for the Moon-god.
This is what made it the most sacred site of Arabian paganism. In 1944, G. Caton Thompson revealed in her book, The Tombs and Moon Temple of Hureidha, that she had uncovered a temple of the Moon-god in southern Arabia. The symbols of the crescent moon and no less than twenty-one inscriptions with the name Sin were found in this temple. An idol which may be the Moon-god himself was also discovered. This was later confirmed by other well-known archeologists.
The evidence reveals that the temple of the Moon-god was active even in the Christian era. Evidence gathered from both North and South Arabia demonstrate that Moon-god worship was clearly active even in Muhammad’s day and was still the dominant cult. According to numerous inscriptions, while the name of the Moon-god was Sin, his title was al- ilah, i.e. “the deity,” meaning that he was the chief or high god among the gods. As Coon pointed out, “The god Il or Ilah was originally a phase of the Moon God.” The Moon-god was called al- ilah, i.e. the god, which was shortened to Allah in pre-Islamic times. The pagan Arabs even used Allah in the names they gave to their children. For example, both Muhammad’s father and uncle had Allah as part of their names.
The fact that they were given such names by their pagan parents proves that Allah was the title for the Moon-god even in Muhammad’s day. Prof. Coon goes on to say, “Similarly, under Mohammed’s tutelage, the relatively anonymous Ilah, became Al-Ilah, The God, or Allah, the Supreme Being.”
This fact answers the questions, “Why is Allah never defined in the Qur’an? Why did Muhammad assume that the pagan Arabs already knew who Allah was?” Muhammad was raised in the religion of the Moon-god Allah. But he went one step further than his fellow pagan Arabs. While they believed that Allah, i.e. the Moon-god, was the greatest of all gods and the supreme deity in a pantheon of deities, Muhammad decided that Allah was not only the greatest god but the only god.
In effect he said, “Look, you already believe that the Moon-god Allah is the greatest of all gods. All I want you to do is to accept that the idea that he is the only god. I am not taking away the Allah you already worship. I am only taking away his wife and his daughters and all the other gods.” This is seen from the fact that the first point of the Muslim creed is not, “Allah is great” but “Allah is the greatest,” i.e., he is the greatest among the gods. Why would Muhammad say that Allah is the “greatest” except in a polytheistic context? The Arabic word is used to contrast the greater from the lesser. That this is true is seen from the fact that the pagan Arabs never accused Muhammad of preaching a different Allah than the one they already worshipped. This “Allah” was the Moon-god according to the archeological evidence. Muhammad thus attempted to have it both ways. To the pagans, he said that he still believed in the Moon-god Allah. To the Jews and the Christians, he said that Allah was their God too. But both the Jews and the Christians knew better and that is why they rejected his god Allah as a false god.
Al-Kindi, one of the early Christian apologists against Islam, pointed out that Islam and its god Allah did not come from the Bible but from the paganism of the Sabeans. They did not worship the God of the Bible but the Moon-god and his daughters al-Uzza, al-Lat and Manat. Dr. Newman concludes his study of the early Christian-Muslim debates by stating, “Islam proved itself to be…a separate and antagonistic religion which had sprung up from idolatry.” Islamic scholar Caesar Farah concluded “There is no reason, therefore, to accept the idea that Allah passed to the Muslims from the Christians and Jews.” The Arabs worshipped the Moon-god as a supreme deity. But this was not biblical monotheism. While the Moon-god was greater than all other gods and goddesses, this was still a polytheistic pantheon of deities. Now that we have the actual idols of the Moon-god, it is no longer possible to avoid the fact that Allah was a pagan god in pre-Islamic times. Is it any wonder then that the symbol of Islam is the crescent moon? That a crescent moon sits on top of their mosques and minarets? That a crescent moon is found on the flags of Islamic nations? That the Muslims fast during the month which begins and ends with the appearance of the crescent moon in the sky?
CONCLUSION
The pagan Arabs worshipped the Moon-god Allah by praying toward Mecca several times a day; making a pilgrimage to Mecca; running around the temple of the Moon-god called the Kabah; kissing the black stone; killing an animal in sacrifice to the Moon-god; throwing stones at the devil; fasting for the month which begins and ends with the crescent moon; giving alms to the poor, etc.
The Muslim’s claim that Allah is the God of the Bible and that Islam arose from the religion of the prophets and apostles is refuted by solid, overwhelming archeological evidence. Islam is nothing more than a revival of the ancient Moon-god cult. It has taken the symbols, the rites, the ceremonies, and even the name of its god from the ancient pagan religion of the Moon-god. As such, it is sheer idolatry and must be rejected by all those who follow the Torah and Gospel. moongod.htm
Allah is sin. Often depicted as a wise old man with a long beard, the moon god Sin was one of the most important Babylonian gods. His main temples were situated at Ur and Harran. The moon god “sin” was elevated to the top of the Babylonian pantheon by Nabu-na’id (Nabonidus) in an effort to make Babylonian religion more acceptable to subjects like the Arabians and Arameans. The Arabians esteemed the moon god, but had more difficulty identifying with Marduk, the supreme Babylonian deity associated primarily with the city of Babylon. The god Sin, “The Controller of the Night,” had the crescent moon as his emblem, and the lunar-based calendar, which became the primary religious symbols of Islam, was worshiped in Arabia as AI-Ilah. Mecca became the center of all pagan religions of Arabia before Mohammed.
